Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister of India’s Rajasthan State, recently requested Union Textile Minister Piyush Goyal to approve without delay the proposal for a Prime Minister Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park at Kankani in Jodhpur. In his letter to the Indian Cabinet Minister, Gehlot said Jodhpur already has decent facilities to project State products in the global market.

He said about 1,000 acres have been proposed for the park and the proposal was sent by the State to the Ministry of Textiles on March 9 this year.

The Marwar Industrial Cluster, which connects to the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) located in Rohat, is just 7 km from the proposed park. A multi-model logistic park is also proposed in this cluster.
As the Amritsar-Jamnagar highway passes through Jodhpur, movement of goods from Kandla and Mundra port will be possible, Gehlot wrote.

Rajasthan also has famous institutes on textile technology, where skilled workers and technicians are getting ready for the textile industry; quoted the Chief Minister as saying.

To further strengthen the textile industry, many beneficial provisions have been introduced by the state in the investment promotion scheme by declaring textile as a thrust sector. The works for developing electricity, water, roads and other infrastructure facilities have already begun.
